Khevoran 3 Session Notes – 20 January 2018

Khevoran 3 Session Notes – 20 January 2018

22-23 Gozran, 44 NC Poppy recovers and heads out of the compound to call in her ship. Meanwhile, the party clears the rest of the cave system, finding Leitus’ library. Over the course of the subsequent hours, the party transfers a majority of the contents of the library to the ship while Kagdir and Snot embed powder charges around the makeshift Waygate. They question the guard captain Gerard briefly, but only discover that he was a fanatic that knows very little about Leitus and Gideon’s motivations. They imprison him on the ship. Poppy secures herself in her quarters in a funk. After the charges are set, Kagdir lights the fuse and the ship makes haste for altitude. A short while later, there’s the expected explosion immediately followed by a...

Khevoran 3 Session Notes – 9 December 2017

22 Gozran, 44 NC The party rapidly dispatches another wave of guardsmen, including subduing a man who appeared to be their officer, and then takes a few moments to rest and rearm. When they advance into the next chamber, Jacob gasps in dismay.  Dominating the center of the large room is huge ring of interlocking black stones covered in a mix of Elvish and an unknown script.  “He’s built one…he’s built a gate…”. The doors to the chamber slam shut, save one, and through that one enters Gideon Nell, carrying a bleeding, beaten, and unconscious Poppy by the nape of the neck.  He tosses her idly to the corner of the room.  He gloats somewhat gleefully that he has both Jacob Dain, who caused him so much grief in Riverton, and...

Khevoran 3 Session Notes – 18 November 2017

Khevoran 3 Session Notes – 18 November 2017

21-22 Gozran, 44 NC Poppy describes Leitus ar’Shamrael’Vin as a brilliant Elven scholar, over five thousand years old – making him one of the oldest living creatures on the continent.  He was in the expedition that discovered the Waygate and became obsessed with the race that built it and the threat of the Kisharans.  He began hoarding warpstone and developing inventions using its power.  Proximity to that much warpstone for that long is likely a major contributor to his madness.  That Gideon Nell was his servant was news, and no one is sure why Gideon was operating in Riverton on Leitus’ behalf fourteen years ago when Jacob Dain’s crew led by Peruppi Dentkettle arrived in town looking for a lost Society officer named William Melvar....

Khevoran 3 Session Notes – 4 November 2017

Khevoran 3 Session Notes – 4 November 2017

20-21 Gozran, 44 NC The flight East is uneventful for the first day.  The next morning, Poppy joins Matten at the rail. ”So,” she asks, “this demon Gideon.  He killed Diego?” ”It seems that way, “ Matten agrees. ”And Vlad died trying to stop him.” ”Yes.” ”And he was sent by Leitus ar’Shamrael’Vin.” ”So we’re told.” Poppy looks contemplative for a few moments. “Okay then,” she says.  Then strides up to the quarterdeck, whispers something into a small compass she pulls from her doublet, then wrenches the wheel so hard to starboard that the ship pitches nearly 45 degrees into a turn and begins sailing due South. The party, notably Nimue and Matten, attempt to find out why the change of course.  Poppy declares that she intends to kill Leitus (she mutters something...

Prelude – Matten

Prelude – Matten

Matten-   You were nine, swabbing the deck of Count Isaac Vane’s Relentless, when the storm of the decade overtook the ship.  It blew half the crew off the rigging, and was threatening to take the whole ship, if not just the mast, over with it if the topsail didn’t come down.  You didn’t think.  You were always light on your feet, and honestly, while you were scaling the rigging and cutting free the topsail, you weren’t scared.  Not like, you’re-so-absorbed-you-didn’t-have-time-to-be-scared, but while the wind was desperately trying to rip you free of the ship and fling you into the forty-foot swells, you really weren’t concerned.  It was difficult, but you never for a moment felt like you were in real danger.   And Vane saw.   You weren’t the sort of kid that...
